Cloud recorder vs the Chrome extension
Two ways to record — in your own browser, or in our cloud browser. When to use which.
# Cloud recorder vs the Chrome extension
There are two ways to capture a journey.
## Chrome extension (your browser)
Install once, record in your own browser. Best for devs who want a JMeter script
and full control, and for journeys that need your real logged-in session.
## Cloud recorder (our browser)
No install — we drive a real browser in the cloud and you watch and click via the
screen. Best for a quick capture with nothing to install, and it's what Site
Check uses to walk your site.
## They flow into the same place
Both produce the same recording shape and feed the same report and load-test
engine — capture once, then audit it through Site Check or load-test it through
Studio.
